1. UPDATE!
The other week I received an email from my Cooperating Teacher @ Dilworth Elementary of a photo of the finished big collaborative neighbor perspective project that I started with my students but I was unfortunately not able to see it finished before I left.
Here is the finished product.

    UPDATE!

The other week I received an email from my Cooperating Teacher @ Dilworth Elementary of a photo of the finished big collaborative neighbor perspective project that I started with my students but I was unfortunately not able to see it finished before I left.

    Here is the finished product.

  2. Each and every morning at Dilworth a handful of the students all drum different beats while the rest of the students arrive and come into the auditorium to watch and participate in the weekly song sung afterwards. Then the school principle introduces each ‘wonderful’ day and discuss what is going on in the school. To be a part of this is very cool and really brings a sense of community to Dilworth.

  3. The ZOO! Dilworth took a school wide field trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo. I was assigned to the Kindergartners.

  4. I went down to the auditorium during 5th period to watch some of my students practice with the music teacher Mrs. Dugan who is awesome. Dilworth is growing on me and the students are pretty great.

  5. Dilworth Academy for the Arts and Humanities -

So this past Monday, October 26th I started at Dilworth for my K-5 elementary placement.

Dilworth is a great school that focus’s on creating! My mentor seems very nice and though this is a much more urban setting the students seem like they will be a pleasure to teach.

  6. A few of the final pieces from the Growth/Deterioration unit I created for Ceramics. These 10th grade students are making college level work but I do not think they realize it.

  7. Video Conference…

The video conference that I set up with my friend Brian Kellett went really well despite the technical difficulties I had. The students were very engaged and asked a lot of great questions for Brian. Overall we had about 50 students show up during their lunch periods and other classes which was great.

  8. Every Tuesday/Thursday @ Pine Richland High School I teach art club to students who stay after school.

Above are images of them throwing on the wheel and images of the DIY sketchbooks they made.

  9. my morning commute

There are obviously some draw backs with commuting 45+ minutes to my school everyday but I have found that my time spent in my car in the morning really gives me time to think and reflect.  It helps me get my mind straight for the day and settle any nerves that I have. I have come up with a lot of ideas for lessons, activities for the day, and personal projects to start during this daily commute. Plus seeing the pittsburgh skyline at sunrise and the ritzy landscape of ‘Treesale’ everymorning is awesome, except when it rains.

  10. Table top throwing wheel.
